The Falcons are as school-savvy as they are sports-smart.
Nineteen SPU student-athletes from the track and field team
alone were named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC)
track and field academic all-star team this year.
The GNAC includes 10 schools from around the Northwest, with 111
students being named to the academic all-star team. SPU's track and
field team accounts for over 17 percent of the best
scholar-athletes in the area.
"It doesn't surprise me that we are an academic power," head
coach Karl Lerum said. "We have a lot of serious students on the
team, true student-athletes."
