Senior Alexandra Hendgen

Major: Nursing

Lives: Off-campus

Do you drink coffee? What's your favorite coffee drink?
Black coffee right now. It's got the most caffeine so...

How do you get around Seattle?

I have a car, I take the bus...

Does your car have a name?
Um, Little Red...It's a red Jetta.

Highlight of spring break for you?
Um, I went on a trip abroad for the second half of [winter] quarter and for spring break to Vietnam with a team of ten nursing students. So, we worked in pediatric [clinics] and community health, and it was really awesome. It was an amazing experience, and we were there for five weeks, and then I spent a week in Taiwan with my mom.

What's your process for studying?
A coffee shop is usually where I go. I like to coffee shop-jump. I'll stay at one coffee shop for one, two hours, and I'll go to another for a couple more hours.

Favorite class or professor at SPU?
I'd say my favorite class I ever took was Anatomy and Physiology with Dr. Moore -- he retired last year -- and favorite professor, Chris Henshaw in the nursing program is incredible.

If you could travel to one place in the world at this very moment, where would you go?
I'd probably go to...Australia, just because I've never been there. One continent I've never been to.

Do you go to church here in Seattle? Where do you go?
Mars Hill.

Do you have a job?
Not right now. I do some nannying on the side, but I'm pretty much a student.

Facebook or Myspace?
I have both. [laughs] I have both of them, because everyone's kind of split between the two; you kind of have to have both of them.

What music are you currently listening to?
I am listening to the greatest hits of the Pointer Sisters, so.... [laughs] I know that's a little ways back, but...

If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, what would you do with your day?
I would probably go skydiving because I've never done it, and I always think I might do it, but I'd probably just do it if I had 24 hours to live.

Do you have a favorite presidential candidate?
No, I've been out of the country for too long to even follow it.

What's your opinion on reality TV?
It's obnoxious. I don't really like it. [laughs]

What do you enjoy doing while you're not in school?
I love to travel...and meet new people. Sometimes read books. I like to read books.

"Pop" or "soda"?
Uh, definitely "pop."

Have you ever committed a fashion crime?
Fashion crime? Probably too many to count. I don't know any specifics, but I don't really follow any rules.

How do you plan to celebrate springtime?
I plan to go to Pike's Market once a week to buy a bouquet of flowers. I do that every springtime. I can usually get a five-dollar bouquet that's the size of a ten-dollar bouquet, and it's beautiful, and it's so refreshing to have in my apartment, so that's probably what I'll do.
