Low self-esteem issues provoke women to call for male attention

Halloween has arrived and there is nothing to kick off the holiday season like women parading themselves around in pieces of clothing that make up a sexy costume. It is pitiful how our society’s view on the translation from beautiful to sexy degrades women. The costumes that women wear are created to hug every curve of the body and to fit like a glove. Women feel compelled to walk around in provocative costumes just for a self-esteem boost.
Halloween is the one night out of the year where no one will judge women for dressing like hookers. Women feel noticed when they parade themselves in lots of makeup and ridiculously sexual costumes. They do this because they get noticed by men. Men’s attraction to sexually-revealing costumes boosts the self-esteem of those women. Sometimes, the attraction from the opposite gender is the only thing we ladies care about, mostly because we cannot see our own beauty because of how crowded our mind is with society’s view of sexy.
A lot of women only dress provocatively on this one night every year. Halloween is the perfect night to let your wild and provocative side go. This is shocking because, according to an international study commissioned by Dove, 77 percent of women think that they are ugly.
I have never dressed like a sexy bunny like Regina George in Mean Girls, but I have seen the kind of attention that women receive when they parade their bodies around like that. It is not hard to see the double takes as they walk down the street. Sexy costumes are made to show off a woman’s boobs and hug every curve of the rest of her body. As a result, getting noticed by both men and women is not a difficult task.
The more sexual and desirable women try to be, the more attention they will receive. The whole night benefits both genders.
I asked a few different students about their opinions of sexy costumes. One female student said that, “Girls could literally get away with a sexy bra and underwear paired with some animal ears, and make it a costume.”
Halloween has become a fierce competition for attention among women, making women go to such extremes as dressing like a sexy French maid. That moment when a woman squeezes her hips into a sexy costume, she feels powerful because she understands that the night will be hers.
As soon as a woman does this, however, she loses herself at the same time. She loses everything she stands for because she is basing her self-worth on the superficial attention given by men. She loses it all just for the desperate cry for attention.
It is so incredibly disappointing that our society’s craving for attention leads women to be desperate enough to put almost nothing on and parade around almost nude in front of men for a night. I have seen women throw themselves at the first guy that shows them attention.
We women have degraded ourselves into sex toys that walk the streets on Halloween. Take a look around tonight, and I am sure you will see many women who look like walking sex toys.
To the 77 percent out there, you do not need to express your insecurities in such a way that makes you feel the need to degrade your self-worth. Feel proud of who you are as a woman this Halloween! And don’t feel compelled to dress provocatively only for the brief attention of a man. It won’t last.
