I’d rather starve than eat alone
Nicholas Holderman/The Falcon

I’d rather starve than eat alone
I’d rather starve than eat alone Besides pop quizzes, rising textbook prices and the opposite sex, nothing strikes more fear into the heart of an SPU student than eating alone.

Making reservations for one at Gwinn is viewed as the scarlet letter of the SPU social scene.

First part of mission statement ignored
Engaging the culture, changing the world. The mission statement of our university is solid in its inclusive pursuit of catering to our culture and the world abroad. Yet, as I walk around campus, as a curious transfer student, I notice something missing.

Smashing walls in the name of Jesus
Smashing walls in the name of Jesus We live in a culture that is easily obsessed with the new, the relevant, the emergent. In such a culture, vast swaths of history are in danger of disappearing as new established churches die, while new ones begin.

News flash: God is not your employee
News flash: God is not your employee I’ve heard this question around the SPU circuitry a lot lately: "Where do you see Jesus working on campus?"

I’m not sure how anyone could answer this appropriately. "Yeah, I’ve seen Jesus, he works at Gwinn scraping food scraps into a pail."

Staff editorials
The Falcon would like to recognize and thank Executive Vice President Andrew Huskamp and the rest of the Senate for their re-evaluation of the use of executive session, a time when all non-voting members and visitors are asked to leave Senate meetings.

Letters to the Editor
Facebook fosters small talk While reading Bekah Grim’s article last week ("Facebook is just social masturbation"), I couldn’t agree more with her suggestion that Facebook (and perhaps great-uncle Myspace as well) is often a shallow replacement for real human interaction.

Tooned-In
Tooned-In “Tooned In” is an opinionated cartoon written and illustrated by The Falcon Newspaper’s opinions section’s Nicholas Holderman, a freshman undeclared in his major; Becky Sargent, a sophomore majoring in art; and Steve Hamilton, a sophomore majoring in graphic design.
